In this campaign, Obama paints Romney in oversimplified, extreme colors. This sort of back-and-white approach is a misrepresentation of Romney and, more importantly, it is offensive to democracy. The president should not be campaigning with this message (taken from the 2nd presidential debate):
"And Governor Romney says he's got a five-point plan. Governor Romney doesn't have a five-point plan; he has a one-point plan. And that plan is to make sure that folks at the top play by a different set of rules."
Romney has a record as a politician and there is indeed evidence that Romney is on the side of smaller government and allowing more resources to remain the private sector rather than increasing government tax revenues. But that is Romney's approach to what is best for the US economy and is very far from Obama's implications.
I want my president to have integrity focusing on pragmatic differences between the various policies instead of engaging in character assassinations.
